Cosmetic bonding is an easy and inexpensive alternative to creating a beautiful smile. Using a composite resin (plastic mixed with glass) material, Dr. Benson can cover a multitude of imperfections in a tooth. The composite material is permanently bonded directly to your tooth and is pliable until it has cured (set). The composite material takes only seconds to cure. Once cured, Dr. Benson can shape the material to perfection, creating a smooth, even surface. No one will even be able to tell your have cosmetic bonding!
Cosmetic bonding can repair teeth that are:
- Badly discolored
To apply cosmetic bonding, Dr. Benson will first prepare the tooth by slightly buffing it so that the material can bond properly. A conditioning liquid is then applied, followed by the composite resin that is tooth-colored. Last, the tooth surface is made smooth and even. Your new cosmetic bonding will blend in nicely with your surrounding teeth. You will not be able to notice your cosmetic bonding and neither will anyone else!
Caring for your teeth after cosmetic bonding is no different from caring for your natural teeth. Dr. Benson recommends that you brush and floss regularly and undergo routine dental checkups and cleanings. Please also be advised that certain foods and beverages may stain the bonding material within the first 48 hours of treatment. It is best to avoid coffee, tea, tobacco or any other substance that could stain your teeth, during this time.
